Variation
Piece of music which is a changed version of (often) a well-known tune or original theme specially composed as a basis for variations. Form was popular with composers from 16 onwards. Good examples include the finale of Beethoven’s 'Eroica' symphony and variations on a Waltz by Diabelli; Brahms Variations on a Theme by Haydn; Rachmaninov’s Variations on a Theme by Paganini and Andrew Lloyd Webber's Variations based on the same Paganini Theme.
Verse
Usually refers to the just section of a song which is written in verse/chorus form. Usually the verse music is the same by the words different on each occasion.
Viennese Waltz
Type of waltz popular in Europe in the last quarter of the 18 written in particular by Johann Strauss, father and son.
