Orchestra

Name given to a mixed body of instrumentalists for the performance, for example, of symphonies or other works. There are various types - symphony orchestra; chamber orchestra; string orchestra; theatre or pit orchestra; wind orchestra etc.

Orchestrate

The art of scoring or arranging music for any of the above types of orchestra.

Ostinato

Literally means obstinate or persistent. Refers to a persistent or repeated melodic or rhythmic phrase or pattern.
