National Anthem

Name given to a song or hymn adopted by nations and often performed on official occasions and to represent the nation at specific events.

Natural

A note that is either raised (sharpened) or lowered (flattened). The sign which, after a note has been raised or lower in some way, restores it to its original pitch.

No beat

Used when music has no discernible pulse or beat - usually occurs in examples of 20 music.

Notation

Method(s) of 'fixing' music so that it can be remembered and passed on or performed by others. This might include conventional staff notation, graphic scores, use of alphabetical letter names etc.

Note

A single sound of a given pitch and duration or a representational sign for that sound. Also used as a name for a key pressed by the finger on a piano, organ, accordion etc.
