Layering

Putting one set or phrase of notes on top of, or underneath, another and so on, creating a resulting texture.

Leader

Person who often directs a group. In an orchestra the leader is usually the principal violinist.

Leap

The opposite of using notes moving by 'step'.

Limerick

A poem, or poem structure which has fine lines where lines 3 and 4 are shorter than the others. The word syllabus follow a particular rhythmic pattern.

Lower than

Refers to pitch - one note is 'lower than' the other.

Lute

A plucked string instrument with a large, rounded back. Very popular from Middle Ages to the end of the 18. Now being revived along with many early instruments.
