Key

A classification of the notes of a particular scale. The key name, e.g. C major, gives information about the notes available for that scale, i.e. inj the case of C major, CDEFGAB, with the 'home' note being C.

Key note – same as home note. The note on which a scale is built. If a melody ends on this note the melody feels ‘at rest’.
