What will you learn about?

The GCE course allows students to study music as a practical, intellectual and creative subject, with specialist pathways in performing and composing. It recognises that we live in an age of cultural diversity and the study covers a wide range of musical styles and types.

What kind of Student will enjoy the course?

Those who:

· Have studied GCSE music and wish to develop their skills and understanding.
· Students who have not studied GCSE music, but are seriously interested in developing their musical skills.

Special entry requirements?

An instrumental / vocal standard of Grade 4 minimum and some theoretical knowledge are necessary.

Performance (Solo and ensemble)
Composition (Various styles)
A study of musical set styles
Analysis of set pieces
Aural perception exercises

The course will allow you to develop an understanding of a wide range of music, classical, world, popular and jazz.

What could you go on to do at the end of course?

Degree/Diploma in Music or the performing Arts or Combined Arts.
